Hand-Forged Knife

Forged from industrial log-boom chain, finished with local arbutus and a small piece of sea glass.

If you watch the show, you already know Nathan. A Lady Hawk crew member with a longstanding passion for forging, he’s putting the same care he brings to the restoration into tools you can take home and put to work.

Each knife begins as a piece of industrial log-boom chain. Nathan works the steel at the forge, shaping it into a blade and giving material from one working life a place in another.

The handle is made from local arbutus, shaped for a comfortable grip and pinned with brass. A small piece of local sea glass adds a coastal detail. Warm wood, worked steel, and something the sea has already spent time shaping.

These knives carry the marks and variations of being made by hand. The grain of the arbutus, the sea glass and the finish will differ from piece to piece. Each follows the same design, with its own character.

Their connection to Lady Hawk is through the people restoring her. Every purchase supports Nathan’s craftsmanship and helps fund the ship’s rebuild, keeping useful skills at work and making room for the next project.
